chick peasHummous…

A nice popular dip that you know contains no preservatives or nastys, is a good source of protein, and a nice spread alternative (particularly good with avocado).

  • 1 Tin organic chick peas
  • 2 Tbsp of Tahini (see homemade Tahini recipe)
  • 1 Small garlic clove
  • Pinch of Himalayan salt
  • For flavouring we use 4 drops of Young Living* Lemon Oil
  • Sprinkle of curcumin (1/4 – 1/2 tsp for the measurers amongst you!)
  • A splash of filtered water. (2-5 Tbsp, depending on how wet you like your dip!)

We use the amazing thermomix (a tool that is used practically every day!) to mix the above ingredients, on speed 5 for a few seconds until blended.  You could however use a blender or whizz stick or even mash it with a fork to be environmentally friendly (however… not necessary arm friendly!!)

Hubby’s favourite – Tomato & Cashew Dip…tomato cashew basil dip

No preservatives or fake flavours for us!

  • 200g cashews
  • 1 small tin of organic tomato paste (sourced from aldi, or alternative is approx. 5 organic dried tomatoes again depending on your taste, we’ve even used fresh tomato however this doesn’t have such a strong taste)
  • 1 Tbsp nutritional yeast (the healthier dairy free option in replacement of Parmesan cheese)
  • Pinch of Himalayan salt
  • For flavouring we add 1 drop of Young Living* Basil Oil
  • Filtered water in base, approx. 2 Tbsp depending how wet you desire your dip to be.

In the good old Thermomix… Speed 5 for a few seconds until blended.  Alternative is a blender (the wetter you like it the easier it is to blend fully) or a blitz stick, scissors and mashing with a fork is the environmentally friendly option!
