From Shaming to Taming
Many paths have been trodden, since we last connected.
Paths of cobbled stones, and incredible bedazzled ones.
I apologise for the slightly longer amount of time than intended in between updates. My, time does fly!
SoâŚI finally find myself sitting down to scribe out some insights and stories… and look up.
…There is a broom hanging directly above my head!
To be specific, I believe it is a Nimbus 2000.
My eyes widen and swivel down to notice my R2D2 water bottle quietly sitting on the floor.
I chuckle, then recall a couple of nights ago, playing the Darth VaderTM bop itTM game, and remember smiling every time I heard the Light Saber on the âtwist itâ action.
This theme produced another scene, where a question was posed to a group of friends a long while ago, âWhereâs Mandy from?â.
The answer came straight back⌠âHogwarts!â
He was joking… I think!
However, I do remember feeling like I was at Hogwarts whilst training to become a Kinesiologist!
Learning Kinesiology
It felt magical, learning all the amazing skills and information.
To be able to help locate and empty out stress for our amazing bodies to be able to heal themselves.
How precious and honouring it is to help loved ones find comfort.
Shaming
There have been many words, thoughts and doubts of who I am and what I do.
Embarrassing! Childish! Weird! Stupid! Waste of money and time! Unprofessional! Not good enough! Woowoo!, etc.
Oh how we can judge ourselves and others.
Our mind can try to fill in the gaps, make things up, analyse, understand and create emotional protective barriers.
It can be like our minds are going on a self directed mission to seek out negatives, or possible attacks.
A whole story can be created, which may be completely opposite of what is actually occurring.
How can we understand what is our fearful thoughts making up a story, and when to trust our instincts to really know what is right for us?
One thing may be right for some and encouraged, and the same thing may be shamed and discouraged for others?
What is right for us?
How do we know?
Who knows?
Who is allowed to wear a bright yellow shirt with butterfly dungarees, so they avoid full body frowning glances from a stranger?
When is it forbidden for us to use the bone china cup and saucer, for fear of breaking it?
How is one synthetic substance – safe, and a whole, natural one with nil side effects – risky?
Ponder ponder ponder.
Underlying this⌠does it all come down to safety?
Do we feel safe?
Is our mind just trying to keep us safe?
Always on alert.
Looking for things to go wrong.
Is it about time to find the safety?
I invite you to dare to read the story of âface itâ.
Are you brave enough to face what needs to be seen?
The more we can be with ourselves, and trust ourselves, the more easier our lives can be.
You know you are brave deep to your core, letâs embrace that bravery.
Letâs not just survive, but truly thrive. Ready? Go on!. Be brave, grab a cuppa and see what you make of this mini story.
Be open to enlightenmentâŚ
“Face It” – Storytime
She looked up.
âhello?â
He came out of the shadow and into the beam of her torchlight.
She closed her eyes and took a calming breath.
1⌠2⌠3⌠4⌠& âŚ5âŚ
She opened her eyes tentatively.
The dark looming figure was still there with his hood pulled over his face.
âYep, that look certainly works,â she though, âIâm scaredâ.
âWhat do you want?â, she shouted bravely
She shuddered as his dark presence loomed around her.
A chill was beginning to creep down her arms.
Her heart was rapidly speeding up.
OâŚK⌠she thought slowly.
She had 2 choices here.
Her free hand automatically came up to her forehead, cradling above her eyes.
âAnother deep slow breath⌠thatâs it, slowly out now, youâve got thisâ. She felt like Hermione before the sorting hat.
The breath left her pulsing lungs very slowly.
Yes, she made the decision, and readied herself.
Her awareness took her to her belly.
She focused all her breath into it.
His presence bore down on her.
âI see you.â
The chills increased.
She closed her eyes and met that sense.
Itsâ intensity grew.
The sensation was getting unbearable in her belly.
She remembered her torch.
She shon it glaringly into where his face should be.
âAha⌠I do see youâ
He appeared to almost flicker.
She maintained her focus on the simple senses in her belly.
âIâm here with youâ she reassured herself.
He flickered again.
âWhat do you want?â she demanded feeling a glimmer of hope.
An image came into her minds eye.
She sensed the shame.
The Guilt.
The Grief.
The Fear.
It all came flooding in.
She was able to hold strong and meet it all as a supported friend.
She allowed every bit to be noticed.
Her temperature dropped.
She felt a warm blanket embrace her.
The iciness began to melt.
She felt herself opening up.
She welcomed in the warmth of the light.
There was a glimmer of comfort, where none had been for many a year.
The dark presence released its hold on her.
It had no power over her.
There was nothing to latch onto any more.
There was no shadow to hide in.
Her belly found peace.
She felt lighter, emptied out, cleaner.
She smiled to herself.
âWell flipping done youâ came the words.
She had freed herself from the nagging discomfort.
Her shoulders relaxed.
She had done it.
—
So you brave soul.
Ask yourselfâŚ
Is it time to face the discomfort, and transform the shame, to tame it?
Have you been dealing with something nagging in the background for a while?
Maybe you have adapted, to be able to ignore the discomfort, and actually feel quite normal thank you very much?!
The test is…
Are you able to be still, be quiet, and spend time with yourself?
Can you prioritise you, and find time to truly listen to yourself?
Then, are you ready to hear what it has been communicating and building in strength for a while?
I Invite you to Have a Go…
Take a moment.
Start with 2 minutes. This is a great way to form new habits*, ones you actually want!
Find a place to Sit down for some you time (even if it’s on the loo!).
Turn off your phone, it’s only 2minutes!!
Breathe in some calming deep breaths, and breathe out those calming breaths for twice as long, emptying out.
Imagine all those muscles relaxing. Breath in relaxation, and breathe out everything you don’t need anymore.
Scan through your whole body. Just notice it. No analysis, you are being a witness to it. Noticing and Observing it.
Breathe into the parts of your body that needs more attention.
Feel into the space and peace you can create in just 2 minutes to begin with.
Have a go with this daily, just for 2 minutes. You may like to write down what you notice after, simple words like belly, head, rock, soft, tingly, sore, heavy, light, twinging, warm, nothing, etc.
Keep it simple and easy for yourself.
This could also be an opportunity for some family time daily, sitting down, listening, spending some peaceful time connecting with your family. Again, it’s only 2 minutes!
You may prefer to have a gander at some guided relaxations here, to see which ones draw you. This may help you to focus easier. It may be nicer to hear a calming voice sometimes to help us focus, especially Mandy’s wink wink đ
